Food Not Bombs meets the last two Sundays of every month from
11-2 at 14 S. 13th St. Harrisburg. We find a form of dissent in
offering free food to our community. With each meal we serve we
are taking a stand against the system that puts profit before people
and that spends billions of dollars on militarism and violence.
We are a volunteer grassroots organization that recovers, prepares
and distributes food that otherwise would be wasted. On the last
two Sundays, we work in teams to collect, cook and serve yummy,
nutritious food to the community. For more information contact
Ashlee Shelton-Barnes at 773-2550 or harrisburgfoodnotbombs@yahoo.com . To learn more about the international FNB visit www.foodnotbombs.net.

July 14th. Ramona
Africa speaking at 3 PM at the Harrisburg Friends Meeting House,
1100 North Sixth St. Harrisburg, More info: 236-3604. Ramona
Africa, the only adult survivor of the 1985 fire-bombing in Philadelphia
that killed 11 people, will be speaking in Harrisburg on the need
for the 8 MOVE people who are languishing in jail to be released.
These people were blamed for the 1978 assault on the previous MOVE
home. They have been imprisoned for 30 years and are eligible for
parole in 2008. Ramona is considered world-wide to be one of the
most articulate and powerful speakers yet she gets very little
attention here in the US. She will welcome questions after her
talk.. Killing them and their children, and holding these people
in jail maybe one of the most brutal and racist crimes ever committed
by government officials. This story needs to be heard, and these
people need to be released.

ADDENDUM:
Some of you might be familiar with an incredible
group in Philadelphia called the Simple Way. They started a number
of helpful programs in the Kensington neighborhood (after school
program, art space, library, t-shirt business, record label). On
June 20th, a huge fire wiped out their living space and most of
their projects. 8 neighborhood families are also without homes
as a result. Fortunately, no one was injured. If you would like
to donate to them and/or the Kensington neighborhood, you can do
so through the following website: http://www.thesimpleway.org/
