Friday, April 30 - Sunday, May 2: Mediation & Conflict Resolution Training. Gettysburg Hospital. Mediation Services of Adams County, a not-for-profit organization providing mediation services and training, will offer a 22-hour Mediation and Conflict Resolution Training. Dispute resolution skills are useful in the workplace, family, service organizations, municipalities, and community agencies. Professionally trained and certified mediators from Mediation Services of Adams County will conduct all sessions. For further information, call (717) 337-6790 or (717) 334-7312.

Friday, May 7 - Sunday, May 9: 20th Annual Friends of Legal Services Book Sale at Laird Hall on the Wilson College campus, Chambersburg, PA. Dates and times are: Friday, May 7: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Saturday, May 8: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Sunday, May 9: noon to 4:00 PM. Most paperbacks are just 50 cents. On Sunday, a grocery bag of books of your choice is just $5.00. Proceeds benefit legal services programs in our area that provide free legal advice and representation to low-income people and victims of domestic violence.

Wednesday, June 23: MidPenn Legal Services is hosting a one day seminar. 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Gettysburg Area Rec Park Community Building. The purpose of the seminar is to provide human services staff with accurate, up-to-date information on a variety of legal issues that affect their clients and to provide information about the legal services in Adams County. Thursday, May 6: 6:15 Potluck Dinner & 7:30 pm Talk. Jeff Halper and Salim Shawamreh: an Israeli and a Palestinian speak. Friends Meeting House, 1100 N. Sixth St., Harrisburg. Jeff Halper is the Coordinator of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD) and a Professor of Anthropology at Ben Gurion University. Dr. Halper is one of the most respected and articulate speakers on the situation. He is currently working with grassroots Palestinian and Israeli peace-makers to define a "viable and just peace". Salim Shawamreh was born in the Old City of Jerusalem, but he and his family became refugees following the Israeli invasion and occupation of the city in 1967. His current home on the outskirts of Jerusalem has been destroyed three times by the Israeli government. ICAHD volunteers and others have twice rebuilt the house. When finished part of the house will be used as a meeting place where Israelis and Palestinians meet to talk about strategies for joint work for peace between them. Admission is free and open to the public - bring a dish to share. A free-will offering to support the efforts of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD) will be taken. Monday, May 10: 7 pm. Racial and religious profiling. The Carriage House, Unitarian Universalist Congregration, 925 South George St, York. People for Peace and Justice meeting featuring El-Hajj Mauri' Saalakhan, Director of Operations for the Peace and Justice Foundation. He will speak on racial and religious profiling practices in our government's immigration enforcement policy, and its use as a persecutory device against America's Muslim Population.
