Tuesday, March 2: ICPJ Board Meeting, 7:00 p.m. Location: Gettysburg YWCA..

Tuesdays, March 9, 16, 23, and 30. "Building Your Own Theology", a course offered by the Unitarian Universalists of Gettysburg from 7 to 9 pm. Location: home of Bruce Boenau, 154 S. Hay Street, Gettysburg. To register, contact Bruce Boneau, 334-5141. Mr. Boneau and Ralph Taylor are the co-leaders. The course is a structured opportunity to think through and to express one's own personal beliefs about religion in a congenial setting free from indoctrination.

Thursday, March 25: Workshop "End Violence Against Refugee & Immigrant Women" held at the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg. Contact: Lisa Hummel, (717) 238-7273 ext. 3020.Cost: $50. Deadline for registration: March 19. Download flyer and registration form here.
Additional information: Participants will learn how to provide options to, and advocate on behalf of, immigrant and refugee victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and trafficking; provisions of the Violence Against Women Act; legal rights of refugee and immigrant victims, including an overview of basic family law, basic immigration law, criminal justice, public benefits, and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. Target audience: those who serve refugee and immigrant victims of domestic and sexual violence, law enforcement personnel, attorneys, victims advocate and educators.

Additional information: Blair Seitz will speak and show maps and slides to illustrate historical aspects of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and report on the progress of the wall being built in the West Bank. Blair traveled to Israel and Palestine in February.

Vigil from prison: perspectives on the merchants of death, by Sachio Ko Yin, member of the War Resister's League who spent 2 1/2 years in prison as a result of a Plowshares action against the Minuteman in 1998. Additional information: Well-known photographer, Blair Seitz, has just returned from assignment in Palestine where he and his daughter, Charmaine, a journalist living in Ramallah, worked together preparing an essay about the Israeli barrier in the West Bank. He will update us on the progress of the barrier and resistance to it. Sponsored by the Mideast Justice and Peace Group.

Sunday, March 14: 9:30 am - 10:40 am. "Justice Denied" Art Exhibit and Talk. Pine St. Presbyterian Church, 3rd and South Street, Harrisburg.
Additional information: Joanna Buck, the artist, will be speaking about her work. "Justice Denied" (a moving collection of fifteen drawings showing the victims of wrongful execution throughout history, including Socrates, Jesus and Joan of Arc), as well as a series of paintings of the Stations of the Cross, painted for a mission in Nicaragua, will be on display until April 10.

Friday, March 19: IRAQ ADVOCACY DAY: MEET WITH YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS! March 20 will mark the one year anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.Friday will be a national lobby day as people across the country will meet with their members of Congress in their district offices to deliver the message that WAR IS STILL NOT THE ANSWER, to urge them to help stop the suffering in Iraq, and to uphold the principles of democracy and international law. Act now to schedule face-to-face meetings with your members of Congress for Friday, March 19. March 19 - 21. CALL FOR PLACES OF WORSHIP TO OBSERVE THE ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE START OF THE IRAQ WAR. Saturday, March 20: 11:30 am. A WALK AGAINST WAR, sponsored by People for Peace and Justice. in support of GLOBAL DAY OF PROTEST AGAINST WAR. Meet at the Unitarian Universalist Church parking lot, 925 S. George St. at 11:30 am. Walk down George Street beginning at Noon. Join us from the side streets as we walk along. VIGIL at Continental Square followed by readings of classic peace literature. (If March 20 becomes a rain date for the St. Patrick's Day Parade, the walk will end in Penn Park.) Bring a sign and one for a friend to carry. Suggested messages should emphasize peaceful solutions to world problems, and not personal attacks on individuals, such as: The World Still Says No to War; War Is Not the Answer; Peace is the Way; International Cooperation, Not Pre-emptive War. Tuesday, March 30: SCHOOL OF THE AMERICAS (SOA) LOBBY DAY. A number of people from the Harrisburg Area went to Washington for training and to tell Congress to support Bill HR 1258, the bill to close the SOA/WHISC, which uses tax money to train assassins. Support their efforts by letting your representatives know they work for you when this bill comes to a vote. For information and resources: http://www.soaw.org.
